In case of major injury, or if the swelling or pain lasts more than 24 hours, consult a doctor.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Give it a rest<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>For an injured leg: <\/strong>use crutches, and avoid putting any weight on the injured leg.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For an injured arm: <\/strong>avoid using the arm, and use a sling or brace to support it.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For your back: <\/strong>lie on your back with a pillow under your knees, or lie on your side with a pillow between your knees.<\/li>\n<li><strong>For your neck: <\/strong>rest your head on a support, or use a cervical collar to support your neck.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Apply ice<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>Apply ice for 10 to 15 minutes at a time, three times a day, until severe pain or swelling subsides.<\/p>\n<p>Use crushed ice or ice cubes wrapped in a wet towel or plastic bag.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Elevate the injured body part<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<p>If it is an arm or a leg and there is swelling.<\/p>\n<p>It is best to keep the body part elevated or in a horizontal position as much as possible.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Consult a physiotherapist or occupational therapist:<\/strong><\/span><\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>If swelling or pain lasts more than 24 hours.<\/li>\n<li>If you feel weak or stiff.<\/li>\n<li>If you want to speed up your recovery.<\/li>\n<li>If you want to avoid complications and reduce long-term effects.<\/li>\n<li>If you want to get back to your daily activities or sports as soon as possible.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Don\u2019t forget the basic rules:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Rest<\/li>\n<li>Ice<\/li>\n<li>Elevation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>In case of minor injury, perform first aid.
