Common conditions we treat

BPPV

Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo or BPPV, is a common inner ear disorder that causes brief episodes of dizziness or vertigo triggered by certain head movements. Physiotherapists treat BPPV by helping reposition the displaced otoliths within the inner ear. BPPV can vary in severity and complexity, and the appropriate treatment approach may differ for each individual.

Chronic Pain

Dizziness and Balance

Symptoms of dizziness or balance issues can have many causes including inner ear disorders (like vertigo (BPPV), Meniere's disease, vestibular neuritis, or labyrinthitis), neurological conditions (like concussions) or musculoskeletal problems in the neck or back. Physiotherapists assess and treat dizziness and balance issues by creating personalized treatment plans, monitoring progress, and provide ongoing support to enhance overall function and quality of life.

Dystonia and Abnormal Tone Issues

Frozen shoulder

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is characterized by pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint that significantly restricts a patient’s range of motion. Frozen shoulder develops gradually over time and may be caused by an inflammatory response that thickens the shoulder joint capsule, leading to the formation of adhesions and scar tissue. Physiotherapists treatment of frozen-shoulder focuses on pain reduction, restoring shoulder mobility, and improving overall function.

Hand and wrist pain

Hand, finger, and wrist pain might show up with tingling, numbness, and/or weakness. Often, these symptoms can be attributed to conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injury (RSI), or tendinitis. Physiotherapist can assess the problem and create a tailored treatment plan that’s right for you.

Knee pain

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is characterized by pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint that significantly restricts a patient’s range of motion. Frozen shoulder develops gradually over time and may be caused by an inflammatory response that thickens the shoulder joint capsule, leading to the formation of adhesions and scar tissue. Physiotherapists treatment of frozen-shoulder focuses on pain reduction, restoring shoulder mobility, and improving overall function.

Low back pain

Low back pain can have multiple causes, so a comprehensive assessment by a physiotherapist is crucial to identify the specific underlying factors. Muscle strain or sprain, herniated or bulging discs in the spine, compression of the sciatic nerve, osteoarthritis or rheumatoid arthritis can all affect the joints in the lower back, leading to pain and stiffness. Physiotherapists address the underlying cause of low back pain to reduce pain, improve function, and prevent future episodes.

Muscle sprains and strain

Muscle sprains and strains are common injuries that can occur from overstretching or the tearing of muscles or tendons during exercise. Physiotherapists play a crucial role in the assessment and treatment of muscle sprains and strains. Manual therapy, treatments to reduce pain and swelling, therapeutic exercise to improve function and customized rehab and functional training are all employed by physiotherapists as treatments for muscle sprains and strains.

Neck pain

Neck pain can be the result of muscle strain, ligament strains, herniated discs, poor posture or age related changes to the spine, discs or bones. Physiotherapists treat neck pain by focusing on reducing pain, improving mobility, and restoring normal function. It's important to consult with a physiotherapist for a proper assessment and individualized treatment plan based on the specific cause and severity of neck pain.

Plantar fasciitis

Plantar fasciitis is a common condition that causes pain and inflammation in the thick band of tissue that runs along the bottom of the foot, connecting the heel to the toes. Physiotherapists work with patients to alleviate the pain and discomfort associated with plantar fasciitis by addressing the underlying causes, reducing pain and inflammation, and promoting healing.

Post-Concussive Syndrome

Sciatica

The sciatic nerve originates in the lower back, travels through the hip and buttocks, and runs down each leg. Sciatica is the term used to describe symptoms resulting from pressure on the nerve, causing pain in the lower back, hip, or buttock. Physiotherapy or chiropractic services can help alleviate sciatic pain.

Scoliosis

Scoliosis is a condition characterized by a sideways curvature of the spine, often resembling the shapes of 'S' or 'C'. This curvature can lead to muscle or back pain, digestive issues, limited mobility and restricting overall flexibility. Chiropractic specialize in spinal issues and offer a holistic approach to alleviate spinal pain, improve spinal function, and enhance overall well-being.
