Common conditions we treat

Chronic Pain

Concussion

Concussions are a form of mild traumatic brain injury (TBI) that are the result of a forceful impact to the brain. Concussions can cause a variety of symptoms, both physical and cognitive, like headaches, dizziness, confusion, memory problems, nausea, and sensitivity to light or noise. Physiotherapists focus on addressing the physical symptoms and promoting recovery through a gradual and individualized process.

Hand and wrist pain

Hand, finger, and wrist pain might show up with tingling, numbness, and/or weakness. Often, these symptoms can be attributed to conditions like carpal tunnel syndrome, repetitive strain injury (RSI), or tendinitis. Physiotherapist can assess the problem and create a tailored treatment plan that’s right for you.

Herniated Disc

Sometimes called a slipped disc, herniated disc occurs when the rubbery cushion (disc) between vertebrae in your spinal column bulges out between the bones. This can lead to severe and debilitating back pain or neck pain. Chiropractors are trained to assess herniated discs and treat the pain and discomfort associated with herniated discs. If you're experiencing discomfort due to a herniated disc, consider seeking relief through chiropractic care.

Knee pain

Frozen shoulder, also known as adhesive capsulitis, is characterized by pain and stiffness in the shoulder joint that significantly restricts a patient’s range of motion. Frozen shoulder develops gradually over time and may be caused by an inflammatory response that thickens the shoulder joint capsule, leading to the formation of adhesions and scar tissue. Physiotherapists treatment of frozen-shoulder focuses on pain reduction, restoring shoulder mobility, and improving overall function.

Muscle sprains and strain

Muscle sprains and strains are common injuries that can occur from overstretching or the tearing of muscles or tendons during exercise. Physiotherapists play a crucial role in the assessment and treatment of muscle sprains and strains. Manual therapy, treatments to reduce pain and swelling, therapeutic exercise to improve function and customized rehab and functional training are all employed by physiotherapists as treatments for muscle sprains and strains.

Rotator cuff injuries

Rotator cuff injuries can occur due to acute trauma, repetitive overhead movements, or gradual degeneration over time. Physiotherapist treatment plans aim to reduce pain, restore function, and improve shoulder stability. Depending on your unique diagnosis and assessment, your physiotherapist my use various pain management techniques, such as heat or cold therapy, ultrasound, or electrical stimulation, range of motion exercises to maintain mobility and  prevent stiffness, or strengthening exercises.

Sciatica

The sciatic nerve originates in the lower back, travels through the hip and buttocks, and runs down each leg. Sciatica is the term used to describe symptoms resulting from pressure on the nerve, causing pain in the lower back, hip, or buttock. Physiotherapy or chiropractic services can help alleviate sciatic pain.

Shoulder pain

Shoulder pain can be caused by bursitis, frozen shoulder, tendonitis, an injury, or overuse. In some cases, illness or infection can also cause pain or stiffness in the joint or soft tissue of the shoulder. A comprehensive treatment approach, including physiotherapy, acupuncture, massage therapy, and chiropractic services, can provide relief from shoulder pain and increase mobility.

Sports injuries

Collisions with other players, falls, or direct blows to the body can lead to fractures, sprains, or contusions. Engaging in repetitive movements or overtraining without adequate rest and recovery can result in overuse sports injuries. Physiotherapists play a vital role in the treatment and management of sports injuries through assessment and diagnosis, pain and inflammation management, joint and soft tissue mobilization, and recovery programs.

Services from our specialty programs, such as pelvic health or concussion care, are also available through Virtual Care.

Secure, convenient online services

Virtual Care uses video conference technology to provide services at a distance that are private, secure and easy to use while giving you more flexibility by reducing travel time.
